INSTANT ALIGNMENT

The standard practice of placing wood on a miter saw and cutting is as follows

1 Place the wood on the table so that the cut mark is over the slot
2 Bring the blade down to see if it hits the mark. This works best if the mark happens to be in a position where the blade touches the wood.
3 Apply power to the saw and make a very light cut
4 Now that you know where the blade is actually hitting the wood you move the wood slightly to make the final alignment.
5 You now make the final cut.

The Laserkerf Method of cutting
The laser is on so when you take to wood to the table you set it in place, (using either side of the beam) aligned with the edge of the beam.
Then cut

It can't get any easier than that
